There's no such thing as a MODERATE Muslim

A conservative muslim is considered as one who leads the whole of his life according to the Islamic teachings. However, one who is usually called a moderate Muslim is one who chooses some of the Islamic teaches. Thus, he leaves many. According to Islam, a Muslim should not pick and choose as it would be following the nafs or following himself. Thus, he is not following Islam at that time as he commits shirk by giving more importance to his nafs as compared to Allah. Thus, the conclusion is that a so-called Muslim is also like one who is considered as a non-active Muslim.

The word "extremist" has been replaced by the word "conservative".

I totally disagree with this. The moderation which Islam teaches ie a man should fulfill hooqooqullah and hooqooqul ibaad both and hooqooqul ibaad even more teaches us that Islam has a fine equilibrium between this worldly life and the world of religion. In fact Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon him) asked us to avoid letting religion possess us completely. In Christianity, one has to abandon all the world to be with the Almighty, all of specially the family life. In Islam, monasticism is forbidden. In my view there is no other religion in the world better than Islam that teaches moderation. Islam means peace and peace only comes through moderation. In Islam great grades are given to people who stay withing communiities , earn their livelihood , support their families and also participate with what Allah wants and Islam Allah has made a religion of peace by defining clearly what things are good to do and what are bad . Therefore if we adopt bad things, we get in to trouble and if we do the good, we are happy. Even Jehad is done to bring about good things in a society and eliminate the bad ones so the healthy and happy face of a community can be restored. People who do good things according to Islam and avoid the bad according to Islam are the ones most cool minded and sober and they also have less psychological problems. They could be termed as extremists by the ones who do not know what peace of mind and life Islam brings to them when Islam is practised as a whole. We should pity their lack of vision.

I think you misunderstood. I consider an extremist muslim one who follows Islam completely or to the best of his ability. While practicing he will have to maintain a balance in his life as this practice is included in Islam. A so-called moderate Muslim which I consider as a normal non-activist Muslim will not maintain a balance but his balance of this world would be heavier as compared to his balance of the hereafter.

So do you think that someone who has a slight tilt towards this world should not be called Muslim? You seem to think that someone who spends all day praying and insulting other religions is a true Muslim. Anyone who shows any moderation should be termed as non-Muslim. I totally disagree with this, as it seems from what you are saying that you think everyone, non-Muslims included, should have Islam forced on them and you believe in the segregation of people according to their faiths.

Imad-ud-din Saqib said...

I do not think that. As I said earlier, an extremist Muslim is one who shows moderation in his life by maintaining a balance in his life. Further, he should also tolerate non-Muslims as the Quran says,
"Let there be no compulsion of religion." (2:256)
By doing these, he will be termed as a true Muslim since Islam tells us to maintain a balance and tolerate non-Muslims.

What about Jizya? That is levied on only non-Muslims. If a Muslim is living in a non-Muslim land, such as USA, UK or Canada, he will be outraged if they put a tax on the non-Christians. Then Muslims have no right to put a tax on non-Muslims.
And it is said that in some Muslim countries, they do not allow the building of a church, or a synagogue or some temple, because they are non-Muslim and should not make such things in a Muslim land. But Muslims who come to US or UK or Canada are in a hurry to build mosques and consider it their right. So either Muslims should allow non-Muslims to build their temples in Muslim lands, or Muslims should not build mosques in non-Muslim lands.

Muslims should allow temples and churches to be built. However, the jizya tax has to be levied since the Prophet (S) introduced it.

For Monsieur L'Anonymous, I reckons that Imaduddin Saqib is referring to "moderate" as in the Western sense of the word. The majority of Westerners consider a "moderate Muslim" to be someone who prays 5 times a day and spends the rest of his/her time partying and generally behaving in a non-Islamic manner. Similarly, Imaduddin Saqib is referring to "extremist" Muslim not as somebody who prays all day and insults other religions, but applies Islam to his/her life in general. I still think the word "extremist" is wrong. I agree with the first "anonymous" comment though.

I also agree with all these anonymous comments but these are all included in Islam and an extremist Muslim will follow Islam completely. Thus, he will be maintaining a balance in his life.

Extremism is not a positive word for Islam or a Muslim who follows Islam completely. The word extremism is a product of Islamophobia the West has created to defame Islam. The word extremism smells of suffering and madness if one goes to any exteme and the principles of Islam are aimed at smoothing out extremes in life as extremes take peace away from it. I still think being away from Islam drives you to extremes and the word extreme applies to suffering one gets in to if he or she does not apply Islam to his or her life. For example one gets addicted to drug which is an extreme when Islam clearly asks us to stay away from drugs that make us drowsy. We should try to teach our youth not to take abuse from the West so if they call us extremists we should start to preach that yes we are the ones. We must see that the West propagates against Islam by using such terminology because it is scared of Islam. A moderate Muslim becomes the one who follows Islam properly top to toe and the ones who partially follow Islam or those who do not follow it fall to extremes and suffer tremendously ( first anonymous)

Thanks for the two comments. However, what you consider as a moderate Muslim is an extremist Muslim in my view as he is following Islam to the best of his ability. According to me, extremist is the right word. That is why, the topic is "There's no such thing as a MODERATE Muslim".

I will never agree that a muslim who practices all the Islam and Sunnah should be called an extremist. However I do agree that Muslims if they are Muslims who terrorise helpless civilians are the ones gone to extremes not practised by our beloved Prophet (peace by upon him). Such terrorists can be of course called extremists.
Before Hijrat, the kuffars were so merciless to our Prophet (peace be upon him) but yet he never blew off any of their home or shop nor asked any suicide bomber or sword holder to blow himself up in mobs or cause any type of collateral damage in public by any means in Mecca. Ghazwaat were faught then but with what bravery and mercy with the enemies specially their women and children and trees and gardens. Shabkhoon was never allowed in those times and the enemies were always told beforehand that mujahideen were coming to fight with them .Alas, our modern day so called Muslim fighters have forgotten this sunnah of our our beloved Prophet(peace be upon him). They blow off Muslim girls schools(what is wrong with female teachers teaching girls ? when did our Prophet (peace be upon him )told us not to educate girls ?) , conduct suicide attacks in bazaars full of Muslims and they are happy if during this course one lucky non muslim is killed at the expense of several innocent unarmed men women and children who are killed without first being informed. Yeah, they are the ones who have condemned themselves to extremes not part of Islam. It is not sunnah they are practising. It is not a part of sunnah , it is a complete biddat. They want all the countries to attack Pakistan for harbouring them . Pakistan does not harbour them, they infiltrate in Pakistan without the knowledge of its authorities.

I feel terrorism in the name of Islam is a great conspiracy against Islam. The enemies of Islam have manufactured some of our religious greedy people to give Islam a bad name so people become disheartened of Islam. When Spain was lost from Muslims, it was due to the same conspiracy. Christians and Jews in the guise of Muslims had started to punish people real severely for petty crimes in spanish mosques so there came a revolt and the Muslims lost power there.I so much fear that this Spanish history is being repeated by the enemies of Islam in Pakistan. They hate Pakistan to stand as an atomic Muslim power so they are trying to give its neighbours cause to attack Pakistan jointly.

I am not saying we should not conduct Jehad. We must conduct Jehad to free Kashmir from Indian, Palestine from the Jews and wherever we think we can implement Islam by conquering the land of kuffars. However for this we should follow the footsteps of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) and his way to conquering other people's lands and his way of conquering Mecca. Till that time we should save our energy, gather strengh, become educated in technical knowhow and warfare and where we are ourselves ruling we should try to establish khilafat there and pure and humane nizam e Mustafa(sallal la ho alah e wassallim). We should only attack other nations when we have power and we can conquer them like our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). Extremism like this terrorism no matter how much you call is necessary for a modern day muslim in my view shall never become part of Islam as it was not the part of life of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).We should do our very best to protect our youth from loosing its faith to extremism. People who would rather see Islam labelled with extremism are part of a dangerous conspiracy against Islam by the West that have failed their moral and family values due to practising a hoax called modern day Christianity or Jewdaism. They are scared of Islam because they cannot help Muslims multiplying so fast all around the world which is a threat to their bread and butter. The only way left to the west to defame Islam is to purchase our religious people and make them behave in a way that gives Islam a bad name. Wonder where these terrorists get that expensive ,foreign, complicated items to blow themselves and others in Pakistan ? I will not be surprised if at the end we find out that the white house is involved in financing them.

I understand what you are saying but the term is still wrong to use. Another word should be used.
