End of the Training Period

With the grace of Allah (swt), our training period, i.e. the month of Ramadan has just finished. It became common among most people that they tried to do as many good deeds as they could possibly do.

However, just as Ramadan was coming to an end and Eid was approaching, a huge number of people started becoming lazy and neglected a lot of good deeds. A clear example would be the salah in congregation in the mosques.

I remember that before the month of Ramadan, the imam would feel the need to announce it to the muqtadis to complete the first row. During the month of Ramadan, since the mosque would be filled, there was no need for it. However, just before the Eid day, i.e. on the last day of this Ramadan, I heard the imam make the announcement again.

It is clear that most people do regard this month as sacred and start practicing good deeds. However, it is important that these deeds should be practiced even after Ramadan, at least until the next Ramadan, in other words, the next training period.

Another important thing is the fasting in Shawwal.
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "He who fasts Ramadan, and six (days) of Shawwal, it will be (equivalent to) as if he fasted a whole year (in terms of rewards)." (Reported by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Ahmad, Ibn Majah)
