The Proper Pronunciation of the Arabic Letter ض (Zhoaid/Dhoaid)

It is important to know that there are two major dialects in which the Holy Quran is read. These dialects are
  • Hijazi
  • Panipatti
Hijazi is the dialect which is used mainly in the Middle East (e.g. Saudi Arabia) and Panipatti is mainly used in the Indian subcontinent (i.e. Pakistan, India).
According to the Hijazi dialect, the letter "ض" should be pronounced in such a way that the sound is a bit similar to "dh". However, the panipatti dialect says that this letter should be prononounced in a way that the sound is similar to "zh".
I recommend the Hijazi dialect because it is followed by the Arabs and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was an Arab.

so? whats your point? why should we follow it just because prophet (saw) was an arab?

the point is, that the meaning might and most likely changes.
So the person who does not pronounce the letters etc properly, they unknowingly might be changing the meaning of the Quran.

I never said that you should follow it because Prophet (S) was an Arab. I told you the reason why I follow it. The point is that those people who are not sure which one they should follow, should know that both are correct.

The best way is the sunnah way and most probably the Prophet (S) used the Hijazi dialect (I'm not sure but most probably, I'll check and make sure) so best way would be this way but of course the Prophet (S) gave permission to read the Quran in seven dialects.
